When I spend a bunch of weekends at home in a row, I start itching to go somewhere. However, sometimes when I have been away a bunch, it is just kind of nice to stay home.
Zack’s grandmother had a birthday this weekend so a bunch of his relatives came down to celebrate. Both of his brothers stayed with us, so we had some fun company this weekend!
Before the festivities Saturday, Zack and I went for a run. Well technically, I ran and zack peddled beside me. He ended up taking some pictures; some goofier than others. The run was a struggle, but I am very slowly getting a tiny bit faster. I looked back at my Garmin at my first run back and my average pace was almost an 11:00 minute mile. I am now down to a zippy 10:30 pace. I was hoping it wouldn’t take this long to get back into the groove, but I am still thankful to be able to run.
After a super quick shower, we headed down to a new Escape the Room place. The theme of the room was ” hidden temple.” It was fun trying to escape but we actually wished it was a bit harder. We had an hour to “complete our mission” but we escaped in less than 35 minutes. They said they are opening a new room next weekend and I am still intrigued by that!
We spent the rest of the night doing birthday shenanigans with all of Zack’s family.
Sunday morning I got up early so I could sneak off to church and get back before all of our guests woke up. When I got back, we all got ready and headed over to Zack’s parents house. We said goodbye to all of his relatives and then headed over to a local park with his parents to meet my brother. Matthew and Zack had plans to go mountain biking while I hiked with his parents.
At the entrance of the trails there is a “pump track.” Apparently you are supposed to go around this whole thing without pedaling. – Ha! We all attempted it while we waited for Matthew. Zack took some pretty funny video of me bailing out at the last second over and over. It is way scarier than it looks! Zack’s record is 30 minutes with no pedaling!
The rest of our evening was spent getting ready for the week, and hanging out with Zack’s parents at our house. We even made some fresh pesto!- Recipe to follow.
We hope you all had great weekends as well!
