If you missed part one, Check it out!
I woke up relatively early Sunday morning to go to service at the chapel I was married in. They have a different guest Pastor/ Reverend/ Priest every Sunday from different denominations. I am sure there is some way to look up which denomination is each Sunday, but for me it was mystery church! Although I love my Catholic church back home, I think the idea is super awesome! I grew up also attending my mom’s Episcopal church, often went to a nondenominational church with friends in college, and go to Methodist church quite a bit with my husband. I think it’s cool to see different viewpoints and church experiences on occasion. I am going back to Bald Head in April and can’t wait to go to mystery church again!
After church, the four of us decided to go on an adventure run together. In the middle of Bald Head, there is a huge marsh. There or some pretty long board walks that go out to and through the marsh, as well as some small trails that run through the woods. We ran these before heading over some dunes and running along the beach. It really felt like we transitioned from running in the Savana, to a jungle, to Sand Dunes, to Beach. We got the experience of running across around 4 countries in a matter of minutes. 🙂
When we got to the beach, we got a little excited and started running with our arms out like we were flying. There may have been a few cartwheels involved as well. It was one of those runs where you think your heart might actually burst open with happiness. A few miles into our run, we noticed a town off in the distance up the beach. It was one of those situations where you keep running toward it but never get any closer. We ended up turning around, but when I go back in April I am determined to make it up the beach to the next town. Someone might have to rent an off roading golf cart to take me back. 🙂
Meghan made a crucial mistake the night before and didn’t charge the golf cart. When we got back to the cart after our run, we were running really low on juice. The conversation of how hard it would be to push the cart across the Island started. We rolled in on fumes and I ran upstairs to shower so I could catch the ferry back to the mainland (they were staying another day). I stuffed a salad down before Meghan and I headed back down to the cart to go to the ferry. They hadn’t plugged it in right and it wasn’t charging! Not to worry, we were pretty close to the ferry and I got to enjoy one final walk around Bald Head before heading back to real life.
I usually am so sad leaving Bald Head but knowing I get to go back in less than two months made it so much easier! Also, I was really looking forward to finally seeing Zack that night!
I highly encourage anyone interested to visit this majestic Island.
